 Windows 7 & VISTA Users in Library

  1. Download Dell 5330 32-bit printer driver or Dell 5330 64-bit printer driver and extract to a folder.

  2. Add "LPR Port Monitor" feature
    Open <Control Panel>, click <Programs>, click <Turn Windows features on or off>

     
  3. Locate <Print Services>, click "+" sign to expand, and click check box for <LPR Port Monitor>.
    Click <OK>.
    Restart your computer when you are prompted.

     
  4. Second, add local printer
    Open <Control Panel>, click <Printer> under <Hardware and Sound> option.

     
  5. Click <Add a printer>, choose <Add a local printer> option


     
  6. Click <Create a new port> radio button and choose <LPR Port> for <Type of port>. Click <Next>

     
  7. Type "UniPrint.shore.ctc.edu" in <Name or address of server providing lpd:> text box without quote. Type "Library2ndFloorQue" in <Name of printer of print queue on that server:> text box without quote. Click <OK>

     
  8. From the Install the printer driver dialog box choose "Have Disk..." and select the folder you extracted the drivers to in step 1.
  9. Select "Dell 5330dn Mono Laser Printer" as your printer driver.

     
  10. Type "Shoreline CC Library" as printer name and unckeck check box for <Set as the default printer> option. Click <Finish> button.

     
  11. After sending your print job, go to Pharos release station located near reference desk in library, swipe your Student ID card , pick the job you submitted. The owner displayed in print job list will be your logged in VISTA account name.

 

Windows XP Users in Library (Download Dell 5330 printer driver)

  1. In Control Panel, double-click <Network Connections>

  2. On the <Advanced> menu, click <Optional Networking Components>.

  3. Highlight <Other Network File and Print Services>, and then click <Details>

  4. Select <Print Services for UNIX>, and then click <OK>, and click <Next>, close <Network Connections>

  5. In Control Panel, double-click <Printers and Faxes>

  6. Double-click <Add Printer>, and then click <Next>

  7. Click <Local printer>, clear the <Automatically detect my printer> check box, and then click <Next>

  8. Click <Create a new port> radio button, and then Highlight <LPR Port> from dropdown list, and then click <Next>

  9. Type "UniPrint.shore.ctc.edu" in <Name or address of server providing lpd:> text box without quote

  10. Type "Library2ndFloorQue" in <Name of printer of print queue on that server:> text box without quote

  11. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish installing the LPR printer. The manufacturer of the printer is Dell and the printer model is Dell 5330dn Mono Laser Print.
  12. After sending print job, go to Pharos release station beside the printer, swipe your Student ID card , pick the job you submitted. The owner displayed in print job list will be the logged user account name of your PC.

MAC OS X 10.5 & 10.6 - Download Dell 5330 printer driver and run the installer.

  1. On Mac OS X 10.5 open <System Preferences>

  2. Open <Print & Fax>

  3. Click on <+> button

  4. From the new window click the <IP> tab

  5. Under <Protocol> select <Line Printer Deamon-LPR>

  6. Under <Address> type: Uniprint.shore.ctc.edu

  7. Under <Queue> type: Library2ndFloorQue

  8. Under <Name> type: Shoreline Library Printer

  9. Under <Location> type: Shoreline Library 2nd Floor

  10. Under <Print Using> choose: Select printer software....

  11. In a search box type: 5330

  12. From the list of printers select: Dell 5330dn Mono Laser Printer PS

  13. Click the <Add> button.

  14. In the next open window:
       •  Under <
    Optional Tray> select: Tray 2
       •  Click the <
    Continue> button

  15. After sending print job, go to Pharos release station beside the printer, swipe your Student ID card , pick the job you submitted. The owner displayed in print job list will be the logged user account name of your Mac.

MAC OS X 10.2 through 10.4 - Download Dell 5330 printer driver and run the installer.

  1. On Mac OS X 10.2 open <Printer Center> in </Application/Utilities>. On Mac OS x 10.3 and later, open <Printer Setup Utility> in the same location.

  2. Hold down <OPTION> Key on the keyboard and click the <ADD> button in the toolbar.
    OS 10.4.X users do not need to hold down
    <OPTION> key.

  3. From the topmost popup button, select <ADVANCED>.
    OS 10.4.X users click
    <IP Printer> icon

  4. From the device popup button, select <LPD/LPR Host or Printer>.
    OS 10.4.X users choose
    <Line Printer Daemon - LPD> from protocol menu.

  5. In the device name field, enter a name for the new printer (Ex. Shoreline Library 2nd Floor).

  6. In the device URI field, enter "lpd://UniPrint.shore.ctc.edu/Library2ndFloorQue" without quote.
    OS 10.4.X users type
    "Uniprint.shore.ctc.edu" into <Address> field without quote, and "Library2ndFloorQue" into <Queue> field as one word without quote, then enter a name for the new printer (Ex. Shoreline Library 2nd Floor)..

  7. From the printer model popup button, select <Dell>, under the printer name choose <Dell 5330>, Click <ADD> button.

  8. The new printer will now show up in the list of your printers.

  9. To print to the new printer, select it from the printer popup button in the print dialog of any application.

  10. After sending print job, go to Pharos release station beside the printer, swipe your Student ID card , pick the job you submitted. The owner displayed in print job list will be the logged user account name of your Mac.
