History is the study of the past and of change over
time. It is also a discipline - a particular way of
learning how to interpret factual evidence and shape it
into a narrative that tells us why things happened as
they did. At SCC, students who take history
courses learn to ask questions about the past that allow
them to analyze and understand how people lived in the
past and the complex interplay between those people and
the societies they created. The study of history
helps students to understand how and why human societies
have developed and changed over the years.

years of college with an emphasis on history. The
state's two-year and four-year schools developed
transfer agreements that allow students from a community

degrees satisfy some - or all - general requirements for
a bachelor's degree.
