Let's face it. Washington can be a depressing place to live during the winter months. It's the weather. Grey, damp and monotonous. And as a never ending conveyer belt of storm clouds soak us to our bones and force us indoors, we forget that life is too short to spend attached to our couches, eating Doritos, and watching rerun after rerun of Law and Order. But your winter doesn't have to be this way. Look to the east my friend and you may be able to see, weather permitting, the cure for your winter woes. The Cascade Mountains.

With the start of league play beginning January 2 the Shoreline Community College (SCC) men’s basketball team is off to a good start at 3-1 in league play and 11-5 overall on the season.  Currently they are on the bubble with only a few votes away from earning a spot in the top ten teams in the NWAACC.

What do you get when you cross a fearless juggler of burning batons with a computer scientist and an elegant fencer? The answer: Robert C. Shields.

This multi-talented professor teaches Circus Performance and Information System and Business Administration at Shoreline Community College. But on top of that, he advises the Fencing Club.


Seahawks looking to bring the noise

September 12, 1976: The Seattle Seahawks play their first game inside of the infamous Kingdome vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. In true Seahawk fashion, the team fell ever so short with a 30-24 loss, which seemed to set the overall tone for the newest NFL team to join the NFC West division for the team’s debut season. Finishing with a 2-12 record, the Seahawks did not taste success until late in the 1988 season, where they finished with a 9-7 record, and capturing the first division title.
