‘Walk the Line’ fuses new life into the genre, adds listeners

So you saw Walk the Line and have decided that you would be willing to learn more about this genre of music that so many in the younger generations have claimed to hate. While country music may come off as cheesy and at times even stupid, what many people fail to recognize is that it is the most popular genre of music in America and it’s history is one of the longest of the American music genres. Country music really started becoming popular in the nineteenth century, but the cowboy songs that we are used to hearing didn’t start becoming popular until the 1920s and 1930s.

So I’m a little behind in the times. It’s already the end of January and before I know it, it’ll just be the end of 2006. But since I left for Winter Break early and didn’t get to wrap 2005 up for you, I’m doing it now. Yes, it’s somewhat unorthodox to do this. Yet, I just remember that I am a Genius and what I do can only be considered as such.

Spindrift has been publishing student, local, and regional art and literature since 1966 and is once again seeking submissions of visual and graphic art, essays, poetry, and short fiction.
