Ward Churchill: Dispelling the illusions
Jessica Gonzalez
Special Collaborator
Tensions were running high on campus last Tuesday, Nov. 8. Arguably a
controversial speaker, Ward Churchill was coming to Shoreline Community
College (SCC), to speak, to argue, but mainly to compel and there were and

would entertain such a speaker. The Student Programs Office was awash with
e-mails of concern and dissatisfaction; regardless the college upheld the
rights of students to use money to invite the speakers of students
choosing.

was felt with one massive stipulation listed on the invitation. "In
accordance with article XI, section 3 clubs that fail to have a
representative attend UCC may have their budgets frozen." 32 clubs were
listed as having attended the UCC event, 22 did not.
