Response to "A word about babies"
In response to an opinion piece “A word about babies”, by Andrew Garten, 10/21/2005 Ebbtide
Do you eat with that mouth? As a woman and a human being I am greatly offended by the statements you made about women. Do you get off calling women sluts and comparing us to Hitler? Did you learn that in church? Shame on you.
A bit of history review for you: Hitler used racial bias to exterminate Jews and other "undesirables." The right to choose movement has no genocide component - no one is out to kill all embryos. It is an insult to the memory of Holocaust victims murdered by the Nazis to equate them with embryos for anti-abortion propaganda.
You hinted in your cute little “stick a fork in ….” quote that part of the reason abortion is legal is for profit. Before Roe v. Wade, illegal abortions were big business. Back-alley practitioners were able to extract huge fees from desperate, frightened women. Many women went to these filthy, untrained butchers or attempted at home abortions on themselves all of which often resulted in death. Today, doctors earn far less for abortion than for prenatal care and childbirth.
Do you watch the news? Many unwanted babies are abused, neglected, battered and even killed by mentally ill, unloving or immature parents. Many women make mistakes in having babies they don't want and can't love or care for. (Andrea Yates, Lashuan Harris, Susan Smith…just to name a few) Yes, of course some women may regret an abortion, but this is not a reason to deny choice to all women.
I absolutely do not agree with using abortion as a form of birth control, but I would never let you or anyone tell me what I can or can not do with my own reproductive system.
We evil feminists would appreciate it if you’d stop breeding and give these friendly folks a call:
