Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor:
I am writing a letter in regards to an article written titled ‘A word about babies’ that was published in your last issue. I firmly agree and support freedom of speech, but that doesn’t mean I gracefully accept what people have to say; this article being one of those instances. I was greatly disturbed by the whole thing. There wasn’t one single line that DIDN’T piss me off! My feelings grew stronger as the article gained momentum towards the end. Although, as a whole, the article upset me, I have to say I agree with very few points. They include: women having a special gift of giving life and that some people need some self control. But I pretty much disagree with everything else.

Samurai Vs. Dolphin
By Adam Starr

For most of us we were in elementary school or just starting it and did not really care about Shoreline Community College. But, in 1991, SCC decided to change its mascot from the Samurai to the Dolphins. When the last river's been poisoned
By Anna Stoerch
Special to Ebbtide
I recently took a quiz at MyFootprint.org, which told me the size of my ecological footprint. With my lifestyle, I cover a shocking 13 acres, and we would need three planets to accommodate all the people on this globe if everyone lived like me. Unfortunately, we do not have more than one planet, but why do we act like it?
It is amazing which things can influence our impact on the environment. Among other things, the quiz asks you for the climate of where you live, how many people live in your household and how big your home is, how often you use a plane for transportation, and how much of your food is processed and shipped from far away. This gives you a hint as to what you can do to make your footprint a little smaller. To be exact, it would have to be as small as 4.5 acres for everyone to live in a sustainable manner. Meanwhile, the average American footprint is 24 acres.

Response to "A word about babies"
In response to an opinion piece “A word about babies”, by Andrew Garten, 10/21/2005 Ebbtide
Do you eat with that mouth? As a woman and a human being I am greatly offended by the statements you made about women. Do you get off calling women sluts and comparing us to Hitler? Did you learn that in church? Shame on you.
