Finally, all the vacant seats in student government have been filled. Theressia Hazelmeyer has been approved and appointed as the new student body treasurer. The vacant senate seats will now be occupied by Suet Ying Keller Chan, Jennifer Bailey and Suhendra Lie.
Randy Stegmeier, the Executive Director Safety & Security, is currently soliciting ideas and input to resolve the current parking issues on campus. The official college-wide committee is the parking task force (which is still in the process of being complied) and it will be meeting shortly to try and come up with some solutions to make the parking situation less problematic for both students and faculty alike. The international studies program will be screening a new documentary on Wal-Mart and its unfair practices. It will be shown on November 16 (in the canteen) at 12:30 for students and at 7:30 for the general population. For more info please contact Kenneth Lawson at 546-4691.
Another documentary about the unfair labor practices that go on at the Coca-Cola plant in Columbia will be presented on November 10 at 11:30 in the canteen.
The College Foundation is once again having their annual breakfast and needs students to volunteer their time serve food at their event. The event is merely for the benefit of the students—it raises money that provides scholarships to the college. It is being held on November 15 from 7:00 to 8:30am in the main dining room in the PUB. Students should show up at least an hour ahead of time to prepare for the event. Breakfast will be provided for all of the volunteers. As many might or might not know, Ward Churchill will be coming to campus on November 8 for the arts and lectures series. He will be speaking at Evergreen College on the night before. A conference was to be held at Eastern Washington University has already been cancelled due to security issues. Randy Stegmeier of Safety & Security has announced that security will be hired to help with the event to prevent any trouble.
