Tribute to the Team: A Narrative
Submitted By Keith Schrader
For the many other months prior to this day, I had spent nights and weekends in this hidden room of the engineering building of the University of Detroit, Mercy. Our team captain would be here shortly and I was sure Phil was already there. Phil, Max (team captain) and I were the driving force of the SAE-Mini Baja team. We slaved many weekends working on a car that fought us the entire way. We were near completion of the beast, and had many mixed thoughts about the race less than a week away.

Mt. Rainier blows WA residents unprepared
Andrew Garten

That could be the headline in tommorow’s paper. They say that tragedy comes in threes, but the recent natural disasters seem to have lost count. We live in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, but it could erupt any time in our lifetimes. But we don’t have to get caught unprepared in the fireworks of an eruption without the essentials.
It is recommended that each home and car contain a disaster supply kit. The home kit should be stored in a convenient location known to all family members. We’ve compiled a list of a few items that you should keep on hand should an emergency erupt right here in Seattle

The Programming Council (consisting of several of the offices that plan student programs), Student Government, and the Student Services Division Directors are among the groups that are involved in developing suggestions for the Transition Plan.

Food Services fate unknown
Jenelle Tucker
Staff Writer
Sean Lakeside and his family have run the cafeteria in the PUB for the last six years. This year when it came time to resign his contract the school was only able to put forth a contract that lasted through March, due to the upcoming remodel.
According to Lakeside, what he has been told so far is that the food service for the period during construction is going to be put up for a re-bid. This re-bid will place Lakeside’s family-run business in competition with any food service source that decides to place a bid whether it be another locally-run business or any number of large-scale food service entities.

Starving and Lost in a Third World Country
Chaim Eliyah
Ebbtide Staff Reporter
I felt a tremor about being at the barrel end of arms from a foreign military, especially with signs saying “No trespassing, the soldiers can open fire” – a statement which was just as crystal-clear in Spanish as it would have been in English.
I had been walking the almost 30 kilometers from the town of Puerto Iguazú to the famous cataracts. I had exhausted nearly all of my water supply, and I was beginning to wonder if the famed falls actually existed. Then, I saw the sign. Left: Brazil. Straight: Iguazú. Great, I thought. More walking.
