If you were not already aware, there are some pretty major changes that will be enacted on campus in the coming months. Needless to say, we will all be affected and have a vested interest in understanding the issues that surround us. After consulting the masses, we have complied a list of frequently asked questions that we took the time to research and have answered with the best of our ability.
A: This officially has not been finalized as of yet, but the Sanctuary (in the Library) has been and always will be a ‘primo’ place to sleep and it is not foreseen that it will be affected entirely by the remodel. Food Service will be relocated to the Student Lounge (the move will occur during Winter Quarter ’06) and there should be some tables available there to eat. During the warmer months, (when no one is really interested in being inside anyway) there will still be adequate room to recline on the lawns that surround our beautiful campus. There are numerous committees that are currently work
A: The previous and the current year’s Student Government has been actively involved in the decision-making about what we need. The main discussion (as of late) has been surrounding the actual technology that will be included in the new PUB. The conversation has varied from plasma screens to Wi-Fi, but their main concern is making sure that this investment will fulfill most of the students’ needs and interests. They also have been ensuring that there is a student voice at all of the various meetings with the architects. Everyone wants to make sure that our money is being spent wisely.
A: The renovation will officially begin at the Spring Quarter ‘06 and it is estimated to finish and be online at the latest Fall Quarter ’07. Programs will be relocated for an 18-
month period.
A: For safety and operational reasons, they will be sectioning off a fair portion of the courtyard and one of the staff parking lots to accommodate the new remodel.
A: The cafeteria will still be open (it will just be relocated). The college is currently in negotiations to arrange for various carts that will offer different meal options that will be located around the campus. If anything, food will be more accessible in different places. (I can hear the cheers from the 1700 and 1800 building students already…)
