Food Services fate unknown

Sean Lakeside and his family have run the cafeteria in the PUB for the last six years. This year when it came time to resign his contract the school was only able to put forth a contract that lasted through March, due to the upcoming remodel.

According to Lakeside, what he has been told so far is that the food service for the period during construction is going to be put up for a re-bid. This re-bid will place Lakeside’s family-run business in competition with any food service source that decides to place a bid whether it be another locally-run business or any number of large-scale food service entities.

Lakeside has a great desire to serve the students and faculty both through the construction period as well as in the new PUB and plans on placing a bid. He does not know however, if he will be able to compete in the bidding process based on his current model of business which sends him personally to the stores many times a week to pick up specialty items and try to fill special requests, a model he prides himself on.

Still unsure of what the future holds for SCC’s cafeteria, Lakeside currently does not know what the school’s plans are for this coming spring as far as food service is concerned, nor does he have is own plans yet in the event that his business no longer has a home here are Shoreline.
