Dan's Itchy Skin Speaks:
Mosquitoes? I Don't See No Stinkin' Mosquitoes
Scratchy Gayle
Ebbtide Staff Reporter’s Mosquito-Bitten Skin
Be prepared. I am about to rant. I am about to rave. I am about to laugh in your face.
Why? If you look at the title of this article, you’ll see that it probably has something to do
with Mosquitoes. Big, gnarly looking insects with beady little eyes and bloodsucking
mouthparts. They have adapted and survived throughout the ages, preparing their young
for the day that they can finally sink their teeth into us fat Americans. We are like a
Country Kitchen all-you-can-eat buffet to the mosquito.

Caught Watching Their Tailights: Bus Schedules Need Change
Jonathan Lavigne
News Editor
We have a problem on campus. No, not the parking problem, a topic that has been covered to death and will
be covered again when it comes back from the dead next Fall. No, we have a problem for those of us who
don’t get the opportunity to come to campus by our own means. Those of us who don’t get to argue over
parking and stay for 20 minutes in our cars waiting for someone to leave because the three minute walk to
the other lot is just murder. No the problem at hand concerns those of us who use public transportation.

Hate Speech Condoned on SCC Campus
We were invaded on May 25 and 26 by a club on campus called The Rebel Alliance
with ties to off-campus movements, most obviously, The Revolutionary Communist
Party, USA. They dominated our public square, scrawled their message on our sidewalks,
and filled our air with their anti-American and anti-Christian rhetoric. They forced the
young adults of tax-paying parents to sit and listen to their pro-communist garbage in
classrooms, being supported by instructors who have a political agenda.

Response to "Hate Speech Condoned"
Although Lenin never did say, as Observor of the Times claims, that westerners who support
Communism are “useful idiots”, He did say that “it requires roughly ten pages of print to untangle
and popularly explain ten lines of confusion.” (from “A Caricature of Marxism and Imperialist
Economism” 1916).
The heart of what I wish to address in this letter is the necessity and the right to dissent, what we
mean when we say that we oppose Christian fascism, and what about the Revolutionary Communist
Party, USA?

What a Year Brings!
Join in the Fun at SCC
Nancy-Lou Polk
Copy Editor
It’s been a year since my fellow second-career retraining student friend, Carol Brocker,
suggested I submit my application to the Ebbtide. At the time, she was the Ebbtide’s
webmistress. We were on the same website building team in Shalin Hai-Jew’s Writing
for the Web class. Carol is nothing if not encouraging and enthusiastic. (She has since
graduated, joined the Peace Corps, and is now stationed in Africa.)
The Ebbtide isn’t really a club, but we’ve got our own clubhouse, computers, and secret
(internet) passwords.

Bearing Your Feet
Adam Starr
Advertizing Manager
Bust out your flip-flops: it’s summer time. But really some people keep your shoes on.
For some people this applies and some it doesn’t. Yes, wearing sandals is more
comfortable and cooler in the warm weather but I think if you are you need to make
sure your feet are clean and well taken care of. It’s not to enjoyable to be sitting next
to some in class who has dry scaly feet especially if she is an attractive person. Also
everybody needs to make sure there clean and smells good. Yeah it’s understandable
if you are coming from the beach.....
