Man, paying for gas sucks. I remember… (fades into an old man)… when gasoline
used to only cost about a dollar and a candy bar was only 50 cents. (Fades back
into normal) This paying $2.30 to $2.70 a gallon is killing my savings account and
my retirement fund. At least I can be relieved that I’m not driving an SUV. Anyway,
I believe that I have a solution to the problem. Bust out those leathers, because we
are goin’ ridin’ tonight!

My Two Cents on the National Dept

When talking about our nation’s economy, I hear one thing over and over: everybody
talks about the national debt like it’s the main course. In my opinion, it’s small beans.
The U.S.’ 2004-estimated Gross Domestic Production (GDP) is $11.75 trillion (CIA
World Factbook). Even if the debt were a trillion dollars (right now it’s a little over
half that), that would be less than nine percent of our spending power—which, by the
way, gets a 4.4 percent raise annually. I wish I had it so good—my debts right now
outweigh my yearly income by about 400 percent. I love being a student.

Dear Ebbtide,
I recently picked up the “Sunfest Funfest” issue (ED. Note: Ebbtide Vol. 40 number 13),
and found a very interesting article which was titled, “The Club That Almost Wasn’t: The
Rebel Alliance.”
As I read, I began to feel that there was a very one-sided account of discussions between
the Student Senate, and The Rebel Alliance, which began on April 6, 2005. On this day,
the advisor for the club, Linda Warren, came to the Student Senate requesting a full club
budget, and advisor stipend for the entire academic year.
