Meeting on PUB Plans

On Monday, Oct. 27, a meeting will be held to discuss the planned renovation of the PUB. Discussion will center in part on architectural aspects, including space allocations for the PUB, such as what offices should occupy it and what the space will be used for. All interested parties are welcome to attend. The meeting will be held in the Canteen in the PUB from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Free video series -- economically sound!

The Worldly Philosophers’ and Dismal Scientists’ Society (WP&DSS) will be presenting a video series entitled, “Economic Survival in the 21st Century.” The series will include films like “The Myth of the Liberal Media” and “SUV Rollover: Hidden History of the SUV”, plus lots more. Videos will be shown each Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in Room 1102, and are about one hour each in running length. For more information, e-mail the club at WPDSS@ yahoogroups.com.

Need a statistics tutor?

Statistics tutoring is now available in the Math Learning Center on campus. The tutor will be in daily, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Japanese Cultural Festival

Come get your name written in beautiful calligraphy, make origami, watch martial arts demonstrations, try on a kimono, or find out your fortune Wednesday, Oct. 22, 9:45 am - 12:15 pm, in the PUB. The students of the HTC Japan Hotel School program welcome staff, students and faculty to visit this year's Japanese Festival in the canteen. All morning, students will be sharing their culture with the campus community. All activities are free and lots of fun.

Free open mic

Open mic night known as “The Essence of the Soul” will be held on Friday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. SCC’s own “Alive Poet” of the Dead Poets Society will perform, and invites others to show their stuff as well. The event will be held at the Liquid Cafe, in the same complex as the 7-11 on 160th and Aurora Avenue N. Free, all ages.
