Parents, Childs, and Spaghettis

The Parent Child Center (PCC), located in the 1900 building, will host an open house and spaghetti dinner on Tuesday, October 21st at 6pm. The gathering is an opportunity to meet center staff, as well as other parents. Suggested donation for the event is $3.

The PCC provides on-campus care for children ages three months to 12 years, and is available for children of SCC students, staff and nearby community members. Center enrollment for Winter quarter begins November 24th.

October Domestic Violence Awareness Month

SCC pays tribute to victims of domestic violence through the Clothesline Project. Victims of domestic violence, along with their family and friends, have decorated T-shirts using pictures, designs and words to express their experiences.

The shirts will be displayed on a clothesline in the PUB until Tuesday, October 7th. Help honor victims of domestic violence by stopping by.

... And Breast Cancer Awareness Month

SCC has proclaimed October Breast Cancer Awareness Month. SCC’s Multicultural/Diversity Education Center will have resources, information, and pink ribbons available during this month.

Some Art and a Lecture

Shoreline Community College gallery is curently showing artwork by Kathryn Glowen. The exhibit, entitled overhead/underfoot, features large scale silhouetted leaves painted with acrylic onto birch panels. Glowen’s goal in her art is to “create art that addresses a theme or subject in imaginative and relative ways.”

These unique mixed-media paintings can be viewed in the gallery of the Campus Administration (1000) building through Thursday, November 6, 2003. Gallery hours are from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

Glowen will speak about her work on Thursday, October 9th, from 2-3pm in room 2069. A reception will follow from 3:30-5:00 in the gallery.

FAFSA in, money out, everyone’s happy

Want financial aid? Get your application in quick. The deadline to submit your FAFSA to receive aid for Winter quarter is Dec. 1, 2003. For applications or assistance in filling them out, stop by the Financial Aid Office in the FOSS building, Room 5386.

Free advice on campus

SCC Advising and Counseling center is available for all kinds of advice, including help with career changes, academics, or personal issues. Programs for veterans and persons with disabilities also offered. The center is open Monday through Thursday, 8am-5pm, and Friday from 8am-4:30pm.
