In an effort to provide better service, Metro Transit recently made significant changes to routes serving Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and North Seattle. Changes included the creation of new routes, as well as time and schedule changes to existing routes.

The changes to Metro routes were in order to improve east-west transit connections, provide more frequent service throughout the day, and to increase peak time service to high volume routes.

Metro service to SCC is as follows:

Route 5 will continue serving SCC with minor changes; it will now run north of 145th on Dayton Ave. N instead of Greenwood Ave. N, and continue on Greenwood south of 145th.

Route 355 will continue service unchanged.

Routes 302 and 314 have been discontinued. Service on these routes has been replaced by new routes.

New Route 330 will provide direct service from Lake City to SCC. Beginning at 125th and Lake City Way, the route will travel along Lake City Way, 145th, 150th, 155th, and 160th streets. Route 330 will not run late into the evening, but provides regular service during peak times when most students will use the route.

New Route 331 will connect Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, and northern parts of Shoreline to SCC; the bus will continue as Route 345 to Northgate. The new service provides more service during the day, and runs later into the night.

Several route changes affect the nearby Shoreline community as well:

Route 315 has been discontinued, replaced by Routes 347 and 348. Route 347 connects Richmond Beach to Northgate, and 348 runs from Northgate to the Mountlake Terrace Park and Ride.

Route 358, which runs on Aurora, will run more often. Metro hopes the changes will make better use of existing resources. The changes were enacted after extensive surveying of affected communities.

As several more route changes may affect your commute, please check the Metro website at transit.metrokc.gov for more detailed information. You may also pick up copies of the new bus timetables, available on campus in the PUB or on most Metro buses.

The new routes and schedules took effect Saturday, September 27.
