Head cheese speaks
Howdy folks, and welcome to a new year at SCC. With that comes a new season of the Ebbtide, your student newspaper.
I am Chase Anderson, new editor-in-chief. I began my journalism experience with a introductory journalism course in high school and followed up by serving on the school paper in various positions.
After high school, I worked at a real-estate law firm in Downtown Seattle for two years while attending Seattle Central CC part time. More recently, I came to Shoreline to become more serious about school, attending full time. Fall will be my third quarter at Shoreline. I have two academic goals while here: complete my associate’s degree, and simultaneously earn a degree in criminal justice. If I don’t end up a career student, I might be a lawyer.
In my spare time, I’ve been known to go out to coffee for two or three hours with a book or a friend. I also spend time with my kick-ass girlfriend and am ever in search of the perfect free date. I don’t catch much TV but have a weakness for re-runs of “The Simpsons” and “King of the Hill,” and watch pro football when it’s in season.
As editor, I have lofty goals for The Ebbtide. I want the paper to keep students posted on the news that affects them. The paper should connect students to people who are important to know around campus, including student government representatives and faculty members. I hope we’ll make you want to get involved with on-campus politics and activities, and provide options for feasible entertainment on a student budget. In short, I aim to ensure that we have what we need: a campus newspaper run by the students for the students.
The entire staff and I want your input. We are always interested in submissions from the campus community (students and staff), as well as feedback and suggestions. It’s your paper. Get involved.
