Professor feels targeted by anti-abortion messages

It seemed like a typical Monday morning for SCC Women's Studies Professor Rachel David as she walked into the upper level of the FOSS building toward her office. However, when she approached her door, David was greeted by three strategically placed anti-abortion messages.
"The first one I noticed was tacked to the bulletin board outside of my door, and had a picture of a mangled fetus on one side. The other side had a message that said 'Abortion: America's Holocaust. Over 40,000,000 babies killed since 1973. We must ask God's forgiveness,'" stated David.
After looking around she found two other messages; one on a nearby table, the other tacked to a women's group poster directly above an emergency contraception flier.
"I think it might have been directed at me because of what I teach, and because of the literature and things I have outside of my office," David remarked. "(Perhaps) it can in some people's minds represent a particular view point, and they might have been reacting to that."
The messages were later confiscated by campus security who declined comment due to the pending investigation. The incident, however, wasn't a unique event. Roughly a month and a half ago, similar messages were placed around the FOSS building and removed by a colleague of David's. Both times the messages appeared to be distributed during the weekend, leading David to suspect the perpetrator has regular access to the building.
"After I thought about it, my main reaction was disappointment that someone felt that was an appropriate way to address what is a political issue, to personally attack someone in an anonymous way," David said. "Since this is a college campus, I would hope that we could engage in respectful dialogue with each other about controversial issues, and do it here."
As of the writing of this article, the incident was still under investigation.
