Ebbtide Staff
Shoreline Community College is looking for a few good leaders.
Applications for Student Government elected offices close on Tuesday, April 15, announced Krystal Starwich, SBA Legislative Director. Elections are scheduled to be held on May 6 and 7 on campus.
Open for filing are three paid Executive Board positions: Student Body President, Treasurer and Legislative Director.
Each of these positions is slated for a one-year term beginning July of 2003 through June of 2004. Executive Board positions are paid $11.11 an hour for 20 hours per week. Executive Board applicants must be enrolled for 10 or more credits, and must have a 2.75 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA), and a 2.5 or better GPA for the most recent quarter.
Also open for filing are nine volunteer seats on the Student Senate. Senate seats No. 1, No. 4 and No. 7 are members of the Budget Committee of the Senate. Senate seats No. 2, No. 5 and No. 8 serve on the Constitution and By-Laws Committee of the Senate.
Senate positions No. 3, No. 6 and No. 9 serve on the Publicity Committee of the Senate. Senate applicants must be currently enrolled for five or more credits, and must have a 2.75 or better accumulative GPA and a 2.5 or better GPA for the most recent quarter.
Applications may be picked up in the Student Government Office, Room 950, or the Student Programs Office, Room 952 of the SUB. Application packets include copies of the Student Body Association Constitution, which provides complete job descriptions for Student Government positions. Names are placed on the election ballot in the order in which applications are received.
Three paid positions on the Executive Board, the Student Advocate, Vice President, and Secretary, are appointed by the Student Senate rather than elected. Applications for these positions may also be picked up at the same locations. The academic requirements for the appointed Executive Board positions are the same as those for the elected positions.
The application deadline for the three appointed positions is Friday, May 9 at 12:30 pm.
