Delta Epsilon Chi participates in conference
Daytona Danielson
Editor-in-Chief
Last weekend students from SCC's Delta Epsilon Chi delegation competed at the annual WDEC State Career Development Conference in Everett.
Shoreline sent seventeen students to the conference from February 20 to 23; it was the first time for 15 of them. This was also the second largest group of Shoreline students to compete.
"Students benefit from this experience by further developing their presentation and critical-thinking skills while competing in a simulated business management situation," advisor David Starr said.
The students competed against other DEC chapters in the state.
Events included marketing of restaurants, apparel, and travel/tourism; advertising campaign; human resources management; sales management; and design.
However, it's not "all work and no play," Amaryah Curnutt, the PIO, said in an e-mail prior to the event. They meet people, travel and have fun.
The main goal was to qualify for the International Career Development Conference in April in Orlando, Curnutt added.
All seventeen members qualified to go to Orlando in April.
It will be the largest delegation from Shoreline to ever attend, Starr said.
