SHORELINE - Shoreline Community College presents a new one-act version of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Magic Flute at this year’s Opera Workshop Performances at 7:30 p.m., February 28-29 and March 1 in the Campus Theater. The fully-staged and costumed adaptation, arranged and translated by Glenn Guhr, is performed with chamber orchestra. An excerpt from the latest opera by Drs. Gloria Swisher and Willy Clark is performed with piano accompaniment by Dr. Charles Enlow as well as operatic scenes from The Flying Dutchman, The Legend of Poker Alice, Pique Dame, Tosca and Rusalka.
Teresa Metzger Howe returns for her sixth season as guest conductor. Dr. Howe received her master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the University of Washington in 2001 under the tutelage of Maestro Peter Erös. Susan Dolacky is producer and musical director and Fredrick Lokken is chorus director.
General admission is $15, $10 for seniors and students, and $8 for SCC students with College ID and children 14 and younger. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 206.546.4606 or at the Cashier’s Office in the 5000 Building. Tickets will also be available at the door.
